Do you have any pictures of your SG with the tour pak, as I'm considering putting one on my SG and would like to see what it looks like. Had a tour pak on my RK with quick release and it worked pretty slick, but there was no antena to unplug.
thanks,

Having a tour pac is so covenient that I don't think I could live without it, rarely do I even open my saddlebags because of the huge capacity of the tour pac.

I really like the convenience of the QD tour pac kit, I just wish the cheap plastic bushings on the docking points were more durable, & IMO for the cost of the kit they should be.

There are certainly more durable materials available, anyone know of any quality aftermarket retro-fit bushings for these kits?

definitely make it a detachable. why not? they are extremely convenient, but have you ridden with the box full....and then ridden without a box at all?! theres no comparison to the amount of comfort without the box. put it on when you need it, take it off when you dont!

A ton of great advice. The dealer wanted roughly $750 for the kit installed so I opted out. May get to it later myself, but for now I turned it into a Stage 1 set-up with R/H slip ons and some good dyno time. Thanks guys.

Yikes - that sounds like a lot. Mines an 06 Classic so I didn't have the audio to mess with, but still the parts are only just over $200. Do it yourself!

#53276-04 Detachable tour pack mount
#53804-06 Docking hardware kit

The book says that the hardware kit doesn't fit newer Classics or Ultras, but that's just cause the stock tourpack mount is a pain to remove. You'll also need a new license plate holder - I just made one.

: )

I have a 2003 Ultra with a detachable tour pak.. It is not an easy ( Read Cheap ) conversion.. each wire bundle has to have a connector spliced you end up with 4 connections. Plus you need a digital antenna installed under the faring for the radio. The C/B is no problem as the antenna stays with the tour pak. HOWEWVER it's the best move that I have made.. I also added a Road Glide seat and a Back Rest.
Shop labor for the conversion is about 4 1/2 hours + parts.. The bike handles great as the tour pak with speakers = 35/40 lbs.
Juat a hint, see if you can get your dealer to get a hold of "THE OLD STYLE " mount that attaches to the tour pac. I'ts a lot more stable.. If they don't have it in stock ask them to search H-D NET and see if another dealer has on.. it will cost a 10% up charge as that's what the sending dealer adds to the cost.. but it is worth it if you are giong top do the job.

Good Luck
2003 Ultra
95"
95 HP
105 ft lbs TQ
etc etc etc.. Yeah I'm on the payroll deduction plan at the dealership...

P.S.
For the whole job done right 5 hours at 75.00 is $375.00 and about 225.00 in parts plus 85.00 Dakota Digital antenna = $685.. give or take,, the hardware is not the problem it's the labor

I added an Ultra tour pak to my 05 Road Glide. It definatley adds a lot of convenient storage but the effects on handling are not so good. I like the extra lights on the Ultra version and the hook up for all of it is wound up under the seat. I also got a detachable backrest that the wife really prefers over the tour pak for our rides close to home. When I ride alone which isn't very often I take it all off.
Some how in the ordering process I ended up with some extra parts though. I have a 53804-06, 53276-04, and a 52892-98 all new in the box that I would make someone a deal on.
