I have the Ultra and was considering making the Tour Pak removable. Before I do anything anymore to the bike, I live with the idea for a few months. It's saved me from a lot a bad decisions and a lot of wasted money. When we ride on the weekends its an all day event. Having a jacket, chaps, clear & smoked shields, etc.etc.etc. all in the tour pak is pretty convenient. It looks great stripped down. But I'm over the looks, it's more how it functions for me. The dealer wanted $600 to do the conversion, but I would probably never take it off. So didn't do it. That's my $.02

I've wasted a ton of money on ghost brackets, removable windshields etc on several of my other bikes. Installed them so I could have the best of both worlds, never used them. It's been my experience that if you put it on, it was for a reason and you will not take it off. The concept of having the choice is nice, but in practice it just doesn't work out - at least for me. If you bought an Ultra, you like the look of the bike so I say go with it - there are a million reasons to leave the useful stuff. 'because it looks cooler' is the only reason to take it off.
