Default Exhaust wrap

Has anyone wrapped their header pipes and put the heat shield on over the top of the wrap? Any issues fitting?

I wrapped the cross over section on my 02 RKC, what a huge difference it made. Way cooler on my legs. I took the shields off, I sprayed the wrap with water, just enough to get it damp, then wrapped it, put the shields back on. I let it set for a few hours to dry, when I started it up, it smoked like crazy for a couple of minutes, smelled a little bad, but no other issues. I started at the Y and wrapped one side then the other, I used hose clamps on top and bottom, again made a world of difference on my legs. Hope this helps.

Should work - will be tight, but effective. Another option is to get your header/pipes ceramic coated (inside & out). Did this to my stock exhaust & it made a world of difference.

X 2!

I've had previous bikes wrapped, and my current cop bike has ceramic coated head pipes. Incredible heat reduction on my and radiating back to the engine! Wrapped pipes, not so much.

I did. Burned the chrome off the pipe from heat retention. Stinks when it gets wet in a rain buy did reduce the heat.

Default Thanks all.

I have already coated them with the ceramic. Actually trying to protect the ceramic with the wrap. For thode of you that wrapped did you use the 2" or 1" wide wrap?

I have wrapped my last 2 bikes with 2 inch wrap the covers fit just fine and any little thing to cut back on the heat helps.

Not sure what type of ceramic you have; mine was done by Swaintech and they don't recommend wrapping over the ceramic, the trapped heat will deteriorate the coating. Other coatings may be different, I'd call to find out first, just to be safe.
