Yep ...first time in 35 years of riding, yesterday afternoon i went out for a ride in the afternoon ,and on my way home the rain begin i was on the highway so i move on the right lane and slow down my speed there was alot of traffic the car in front of me for no reason suddenly apply breake ,no chance to move on the left lane so i apply rear brake but it was very slippery , the back of the bike came in front and i loose control ... hit the ground at around 40 mph the bike rooll over me , i don,t hit any car and stay on the right lane got to the hospital just one broken ribs, left shoulder missing some skin thank god i,m ok
the wife was at work i,m happy she was not with me
i stop at the dealer today the estimate is around 10k i think the bike spin on the ground lot of scratch everywhere
here is a few pic of the damage
ride safe
Glad your ok. But......I always hear of people speaking of useing their rear brake ALOT. 80% of stopping power is from the front brake ! Even in wet conditions...applying the front brake and then alittle rear along w/ engine brakeing can stop you in a hurry. I don't mean to be ragging on you...it;s just a pet peev of mine when I hear or see someone useing more back break than the front.
When I was in the American Sport Bike Association a loooonnggg time ago, we used to practice panic/emergency brakeing w/ ONLY our front brake. You would be surprised how fast you can stop, even when locking up your front tire. This technique also teaches you to let off when you feel your front tire locking up and to remain upright. Anyways......hope all is well and you get your scoot back to the way she was
Sorry about your bike but glad you came through it ok. Sometimes I hate wearing my helmet in this hot weather but after seeing yours I'm motivated again. Thanks for sharing and hope you're back in the saddle soon.
