Looks like the speakers need to be 8 ohm. The other thing to do is to clean, and use dielectric grease on all of the radio connections. While you are there check the ground that is also referenced in the thread.
Everything that has come up on this thread has been done at one time or another. I've used Hog Tunes and changed back to Harley speakers. No difference. Grounds have been checked. Radio exchanged,and other electric components eg voltage regulator and stator replaced. Symptoms remain the same. radio is fine when first starting out and begins to see problems after 20 mins or so and gets worse the longer I ride. A full day ride forget it. Unlistenable. I have all but given up. Since I'm up in Aspen area not a lot of choices of other places to take it to other than dealer. Dealer has been very fair with charges since they have been unable to remedy it
