Anyone went from a Street Glide to a Road Glide? Any major differences in the ride or handling? I'm looking at a new Road Glide and don't have one I can test ride.
From: Western Illinois, land of bad roads, and corrupt politicians
Same suspension, so the ride will be pretty much the same.
Road Glide:
Steering is lighter.
Fairing is farther away from you for a more open feeling.
Cross wind handling is better.
With lowers and the right windshield you can light a stogie at 70 mph with a Bic.

You'll look like everyone else.
Is 17K for a 2011 Road Glide a pretty good deal? It's 2K less than the Street Glide and itr doesn't look like everyone else.
I went from a road glide to a street glide and to tell you the truth I prefer the street glide. I've always been told the road glides handle better because the front fairing is frame mounted and not handle bar mounted. The issue I had was I prefer the look of the lower windshields so when on the road glide you get blasted by the wind, whereas the street glide the windshield is higher so to me the ride was better.
I went with a RG Ultra and simply love it, especially the ole lady. But I love my streetglide as well. But for long hauls its been a far superior ride. I added the fork baffles from harley and it made for less turbulence. It was still far less turbulence then my SG from the start. Im sure the taller windshield is helping alot. The extra storage on dash is great too. I personally feel like I can go through turns alot better as well, very nimble bike.
I had a Street Glide went to a Road Glide Custom , changed the shield and just got back from a 1,500 mile trip , the Road Glide handles so much better on the road I didn't even get tired , the bat wing would have killed me
I put 80,000 miles behind a batwing and so far 7000 miles behind my 2011 rgu sharknose and I say there is not much difference so get the one you like the looks of best. I personally think the batwing looks a little better but I am not hating the roadglide either. I also was paid to ride RK's 40 hours a week for the last 10 years and they handle about the same too lol.
