Brick0044,

Wire the Converter +/- from each side of the radio (Left/Right side). Also don't bridge the amp as that is for sending all your power to one speaker.

The only things you need for the amp are:

Power (from Battery)
Ground (Side of triple tree)
Remote power (Get it from Headlight or Lighter)
Speaker inputs (High Level) or use the converter

I turned my input for the converter all the way up.

Mike

Thanks Sg Mike, Really wanted to get it going for the ride today. I will have to wait till tonight to install, hoping someone can look at the input plug and tell me if there are 4 or 5 wires coming from it.

Well from looking at the installation instructions on the net it looks like 5 wires for the input plug. Left (+/-), Right (+/-) and Ground.

In your case you will NOT use the speaker ground. And if you use the Converter you won't use the input plug at all.

I bought one of the Ebay refurbs too and just got it last week. It had the speaker wire included, so I'm perplexed that you didn't get one. You might want to contact the seller and ask for one, as I don't know where you'll find a connector like that. A refurb should include all parts and accessories as a new item, and although mine only had the speaker cable that's all I needed. I connected the speaker ground to one of the bolts on the vertical fairing bracket below and to the right of the head unit. It seems to work fine like that. Some have just spliced it to the main ground wire, which makes me wonder why they just didn't do that internally.

I'm wondering if the Scosche Loc80 adapter is necessary, as the description states that it is for amps without speaker-level inputs. That might imply that it is doing the same job as the Elf amp is doing when you connect to its speaker-level inputs. Can anyone verify this? BTW, Buy.com has these for $12.74 shipped.

I'm happy with the way the Elf sounds with my Hogtunes speakers and Tweeter Pod, but may go for the Biketronics 6˝" speaker kit as what would seem to be a meaningful upgrade. The HT speakers are only rated for 50W RMS and the amp puts out 125W at 2Ω, although its higher since I'm running 1.5Ω with the HT+TP in parallel. The Biketronics-Hertz speakers are rated for 100W RMS. I don't think I would be pushing the speakers anywhere near this output level, though.

If I'm understanding you correctly, your running a 1.5 ohm final load. If so, that's not wise, this amp is only stable down to a 2 ohm load. Not saying it can't handle it, a lot of time companies are very conservative with their specs. But, IMO...just not wise.
