Default RE: EG front crash bar removal?

This help? I go back and forth on the crash bar and the bars around the hard bags. I only put them on when I'm going for a long ride and need the highway pegs. I ride pretty hard and like to throw it into corners and I’ve found the bars tend to limit my performance. Do I plan on dropping it, no? Do I plan on an accident, again no. But do I know that "Murphy" goes everywhere I go? Heck yes, he's been my buddy since I was a kid, I just tell him to give me a break every now and again and he does...

Thanks for the replies guys, just what I was looking for. I guess the smart thing would be to put it back on but damn, it looks so much better without it.

Thanks again,
Goblin

I totaly agree with you that they look better when they are off. But there is one big reason why HD put them there. And it's the same reason the smaller, lighter doesn't get them.

You haven't gotten that big bike off balance and tried to hold it up from hitting the ground have you?

I have a RoadGlide and couldn't take off the engine guard even if I wanted to. BUT, I went so far as to put the saddlebag guards from an EGlide on it. I like the way it looks and I would rather scratch a little crome than break some very expensive plastic. I don't plan on dropping it but I figure if I do it will be at slow/no speed. Stuff happens and gravity works. Plus I agree it's alot easier to pick up with the guards on. Put 'em back on. Just my thoughts.

Damn, now I am afraid to reply... 'cause I took mine off years ago. So far so good on dropping it, but thats what insurance is for... so we can do the stupid things we want without thinking of the consequences!

Softails are lighter than baggers. You can go without it if you like, but it's not recommended. It's your wallet if it falls over...which is what the engine guard protects you from....tip overs.

Good luck!
