1500 miles in under 24 hours is a bit much. You would have to avg 62.5 miles an hour nonstop to make it in 24 hours. Factoring in stops for gas and leak breaks you wouldn't be able to do it. Plus fatigue??? Don't try it. You'll end up killing yourself.
Oh it can be done! Lots of people have done it. I did 1128mi in 17hrs 20min. another 400 or so miles wouldnt have been that hard at that point.
Yeah, doom and gloom. Don't try it. Sell you bike and don't ever ride anymore. If possible, walk and be careful with each carefully planted step.
Good lord!!!!!
AMEN BROTHER!!!!! Some people never push themselves to their full potential, rather be content lollygagging along in their meager existence and tell others it cant be done. Cant never could do anything!
I get it. Your the kinda guy who eats 62 hotdogs at one time. This I think is a phycological problem of some kind. If it were life and death....OK. Other then that this ride is nothing more then a form of self abuse. It's dumb and dangerous. Fly if you gotta get there for such a short time. Ride your scooter when you got two weeks to stop and smell the flowers.....enjoy life for God's sake.
With the speed you will need to average, it will wear you out before you know it.
Riding long hours at a reasonable speed will tire you physically, riding long hours at an elevated speed will tire you both mentally and physically. Add the stress of knowing you have no way out and unforeseen weather is a recipe for disaster. Unless you have done 1000 mile days in less than 18 hours, I wouldn't try it.

I'm surprised to read this on a Harley forum. I know BMW and Gold Wing riders that do this all the time. Maybe Harley drivers are just too old.

Beary
They do, but they use the thing between their ears first.
Usually, they run the Saddlesore type ride (1000 miles in 24 hours) first, then graduate to the BunBurner (1500miles in 24 hours) next.
I compare it to trying to run a marathon when the most you have done previously is 10 miles. Most runners will tell you the first 20 miles aren't bad, its the last six. And they're not running at 70mph on the freeway.

Riding 1500 miles in a day is enjoying life for some people, not everyone is like you, as much as you may want them to be, they are not.
The guy never said he was stupid, if he can't go the full distance he will stop. Haven't you ever had to push yourself when trying to accomplish something? Did you know when to stop and when to keep trying? What did this guy say to make you think he is too stupid to know when to stop?
I live in Decatur Ill right near ya and we rode to Key West last year but didnt go straight thru. We started about 8:00 AM and made it thru Atlanta when it was gettin dark so we stopped. We stopped at my dads in the Tampa area the next day but it would have been another good ride gettin to the Keys. The highway out to the keys can be a pain. Its 2 lane with very little chance to pass. There was an accident that held us up for over an hour before they cleared the road. Coming back we went on to Ft. Lauderdale for a couple days and the wife flew back I left out about 7:30 And made it to Chattanooga by dark. 800 miles. The highway thru the mts is quite a road at 70 to 75 MPH with the cages and all. Not my cup of tea at night but a beautiful ride first thing in the AM. I dont know how often you stop but I dont push it past 150 miles per stop cause I dont wanna end up walkin. I think if you can average 65 MPH with the stops your doing real good. Good luck and ride safe.
