Sent Medallion 2 inquiries about going "pod-less" with a new speedo. They don't even bother replying. Must be nice to not give a $hit..
They "tech" at JP thought I had a Yamaha road-king!!, when I told him he was in the wrong country he said the pod was necessary because the Medallion gauges were deeper than stock..
Guess I will stick with the OEM unit. Drag Specialties sells a new Bezel/glass kit for my speedo. Maybe time to clean it up. There's crap under the glass.
I had the HD Tach / speedo combo on my 2003 RKC and really liked it alot. The tach had the actually needle or pointer on the bottom half, not the digital readout. I liked it, was easy to see at a glance, didn't feel at all distracted. I think they still sell that style tach / speedo combo. When I get another RK I will try to get another of the same setup.
I have a 2003 RKC. I added the HD speedo/tach combo 2 years ago. It is now acting up on me. The tach works when it feels like. The speedo works fine. I checked with 3 HD dealers. None of them have a clue on how to fix it or where to send it to to be fixed. I put in a thread to ask if anyone had any idea wher I coud send it. 37 views no replys. I would not waste $420 again.
Half the problem with mine is crud under the glass. Like to have a Tach though.
Got a replacement glass and bezel. Painstaking to change out but it can be done.
Went to Carlisle rally last weekend.
Stuck my head in the Kury tent and saw Medallion display.
There was a rep there from Medallion. I verified the POD was indeed required.
I advised him that Medallion should be a little more responsive to inquiries..
They had a bike there with the speedo installed and it really didn't look bad. Different yes, bad no.
