That power commander one looks pretty cool but holy crap they value their product!
If I'm going to spend $400 on a tach I will get one of the console replacement gauges that combine the speedo/tach plug it in you're done
But on a RKC, and I would guess a softail, you would still be lacking the voltage and temp gauges. With the PC unit you get those.
If you are going to spend $300 on the OEM replacement one you might as well consider spending the additional $100 for the PC one with the additional gauges. Consider the cost of those two gauges and some sort of can to mount them in. And the need to conncet to a sensor somewhere. The work involved. The additional $100 is cheap.
The only thing I would suggest is doing a little additional work and install it with some stainless 1/4 20 bolts and neoprene nuts. Rather than be dependant on the 3M tape.
But, either way, you will be removing the dash, disconnecting the OEM unit or the wireing harness somehow to plug in the replacement or the PC unit, and re-installing the dash.
The effort is about the same. Unless you do the bolting on as I suggest.

I agree, this one is really cool. I checked out the web site and it wasn't completely clear about installation. Does this have some kind of pass-through connector so it's plug-and-play, or does it actually require finding and splicing wires?
For that kind of cash, I will stick to shifting by ear.
Yes, I understand. All of us who buy Harleys are on a pretty tight budget. Otherwise we would not have to buy such a low budget machine. No need to spend any more than we have to.
My 2009 FLHP came with a tack mounted up. The 2009 sporty that I traded in had the dual speedo/tach upgrade that was mounted up above the triple tree. I loved that. I love having a tach up high, vision-wise and wish there was a Harley way to get a speedo up there too. I hate the speedo mounted on top of the gas tank...having to look down for speed on a bike is just plain stupid and not safe.
Apparently it's not easy jumping wires across for a mounted speedometer. Too bad...if there's one out there, I'm in. Not the gas tank stuff.
