anyone bought the SE street legal slip-ons? how is the sound and performance?
put SE IIs, SE AC and a SERT on my '06 Dyna and really liked the sound and performance.
Know i will be doing a SE AC and SERT on my '07 Ultra, but undecided on the slip-ons, since HD doesn't sell the race only SE IIs anymore. Any other suggestions on slipons?
I recently installed the new SE on my 07 EG standard. They sound really good for either the passenger or passers by. As the rider, they seem to be a little quiter than I was wanting. I am overall happy with sound, maybe I can get a sound clip for you on my next day off -Thursday if you are interested.
I will work on the clip tomorrow. I did install the Stage 1 A/C with a KN filter and purchased a PCIII from Jamie at Fuel Moto when this was all put together so I cannot atest to a stock bike with just slip ons.
I will say that originally I put VH turndowns on the bike and it ran Freagin Excellent (WOW!) but too loud and I came from a bike with drag pipes on it from the past 3 years. The PCIII went south after a short lived 40 miles and had to be warranted giving me yet another excuses to shop while I waited for postal deliveries. I sold the VH to another member and purchased the SE from Zanotti after hearing them on the dealership floor. These SE do sound great and I feel they are slightly louder than stock but like I said from the seating position down the road they are very tame but the wife does like them since she is closer to the sound than me. The salesman at Hales told me that generally SE pipes that are one piece are the louder than the ones that need end caps purchased. This is why I chose the ones I bought, looking for the louder SE pipes. Also the HD wishbook stated these produced slightly more power and tourqe over the others for what it is worth.
All of my other buddies that ride with me like them and they have VH ovals and Samson true duals, which BTW give me a headache when I am behind them.[:@]
Okay bear with me, this is the first clip I have done - hope all goes well....
These are the Screamin' EagleÂŽ Street Performance Slip-On Mufflers - One Piece #80490-07 on my '07 FLHT with SE Air Filter and the PCIII with modified map.
Ive heard both those and my stock 07 pipes and sound level is near same, even the catalog shows the graph on them compared with stock and the lines are on top of each other, if your not happy with your stock you probley wont be with these they are mostly for a different look is all. A lot of money just for a different look.
I have an 07 RKC and put on the new SE slip ons. With no other modifications, they really seem to let the engine breathe much better and run cooler. However, they did not strike me as noticeably louder than stock pipes and were a little subdued for me. I have since put on the older SE "race only" slip ons and done AC and SERT. I now have the sound I was looking for and the bike seems to really run well. They no longer make the "race only" SE pipes but some dealers still have some in stock or you can watch e-bay for them. I'm 99% sure the part number for the pipes I am using is 64903-99 and they have a nice sound but not too loud. If you'd like me to verify the part number, let me know.
