u would be shocked at how well the stocker sound once the cat is gone, i would start with a catless headpipe(loose aalot of heat) and stay with the stock muffs.

I've got the sert, a/c, catless true duals and vance and hines twin ovals on a 103", and I can honestly say they sound awesome. But......my next bike I will probably stay stock. The loud gets very old after a while and I agree that stock is the way to go as I get more hard of hearing.

I'm partial to Rineharts, but mine seem to be quite a bit louder at 37,000 miles than they did at time of purchase.

I run the Rush Big Louies with the 2.25 baffles. Everything else is stock right now. They sound nice right now, a little louder than stock, but tone is much deeper and more mellow. I like em alot. I plan on finishing the stage 1 soon.......(heat is becoming an issue). Not sure which headpipe im gonna use, but looking at my slips, Im gonna give Rush a serious look on the headpipe as well. By the way my bike is a roadglide with the 103 powerpak.

Thanks, BTW, this might help with your decision.

I had Rush's on my previous SG, but decided to tone it down a bit and went with the Screamin' Eagle touring mufflers. No radio on my RKC, but IF I had one, I'd be able to hear it a lots better than with the Rush's. Real good sound when I get on it, but doesn't rattle the ear wax out normally.

I've always likes how a "forward slash" pipe follows the lines of a bagger & really like the sound of Bub-7's. Mine are TD's, but you can get 3.5" or 4" pipes from them too. Worth a look: http://bub.com/

I am holding on slip-ons personally until I can afford to kill the stock cross-over. That thing is HOT as heck and kills flow.
