Default fairing

I replaced one last night...pissed me off. I had issues out of the box with the grommets pulling out. The replacements do work good. Pissed I had to pay for them too! Warranty my ***.

Would some carefully placed 5 minute epoxy put on before stripping be a good idea?

I misquoted the price on the inserts. They're 1.70 each. Sorry about that. Do you mean pretreating each insert with epoxy ? Good question. Should be done on manufacture shouldn't it ?

Surely no one has mentioned it yet, but so you'll know the split goes first and this an easy job and a great improvement.

The easy thing to do is to stick the insert on the end of a soldering iron. After a minute to heat up, just slowly insert the insert back in the hole. let the plastic start to bubble then while holding the insert in place with a screwdriver slide the iron off the insert and let cool.

I'll add this to the conversation:

Use an extra washer on the stock bolt so it does not bottom out before the insert is completely in.

If you use epoxy, you will never get it out if for some reason it gets stripped in the future.

I was thinking the same thing about using epoxy. Might correct it, but you'll never get it out without drilling it out.

Anybody have the part # handy? My original insert came out then I used Gorilla Glue and when I put the bolt back in darn bolt broke and 1/2 the insert. Guess its drill time unless you guys have a better solution.

Thanks,
