Took a long ride this weekend, collected a few hundred bugs on the fairing & windshield. Stopped by my old shop to pick up a can of Plexus, only to find out that the 13oz spray can now retails for $19.99... WTF ? Last time I bought this is was like $12.99.
The owner handed me a can of Moose Racing plastic cleaner & a rag & told me to go test this product out. So I sprayed the entire fairing & windshield, waited a few mins and started cleaning off the bug goo. After two applications, it was clean again. It needed two because it was nasty. I also did the lights, fenders & such....
The Moose plastic cleaner did a very good job on a bug coated fairing & windshield. It left a nice shine on everything and generally I was satisified with the results.
The Moose plastic cleaner retails for $9.99 for 19 oz vs Plexus at 19.99 for 13 oz.
The cans states: Good for acrylics, polycarbonate, plexiglass, lexan & safety glazing. Contains no chemicals or abrasives that will cause damage to plastic.
I dont sell the stuff but I can recommend it as a good alternative to Plexus.
Thanks, also the stuff the Honda dealer sells works great, used to say " Honda" on the can but says something else now, black can...about 8.00 for large...
+1 on Lemon Pledge. I've used Honda spray cleaner for years but Lemon Pledge works as good or better and it's LOTS cheaper and available everywhere. Something good to keep in your saddlebag is the Lemon Pledge wipes. A package of 18 costs a couple of bucks and they work great for cleaning the windshield (or any other part of the bike for that matter) while you're out out the road. Just keep a microfiber towel handy to finish the cleaning.
Lemon Pledge is the best thing I've ever found to clean bikes. Try it...you'll see what the rage is all about.
I use Turtle Wax ICE. Sprays on, bugs wipe right off. Not sure how much I paid for the bottle but I love how it gives the bike a "just waxed" look and feel. I always keep a bottle and a few towels in the bags.
Another vote for the Lemon Pledge here. Have tried all the others but nothing seems to work as good as the Pledge. On heavy bugs like the OP was using it on it works wonders. Spray it on, let it sit for a little bit, and wipe! Follow it up with a clean micro-fiber cloth to get the excess.
