Only about 1/2 right. Yes, ethanol has less energy (BTU), but that does not equal less power. It does not take more throttle, but it does take more volume of fuel for a given throttle position. In fact, it's proven day after day that huge HP can be made with ethanol due to it's high octane rating and ability to support increased compression. It just takes a lot more fuel and a motor set up to burn it.

I wasn't even taking a stand on octane, one way or the other, but now that I'm here, if I want to burn regular, I don't need luck to do it, stock compression doesn't demand higher than 87 in most cases. If your not pinging, no need to bump up the octane. Now if you wanna talk foolish, riding your grand daugter around in shorts qualifies.

I run high test, the bike loves it and so do I. Plus, with all the $hit they are adding to fuels now a days, I would think the hi oct is safer. JMO...
