But when all is said and done Dr. Tiki is right the RG is just FUGLY
Those RG's are so Fugly that the MOCO can only make 2 versions of it before it starts to offend people. The Bat Wings on the other hand have twice as many sexy versions to choose from.
I would think that the fairing turning with the bars would be better for light.... is there a wind factor in turning if the fairing stays straight forward?
what else do y'all think about the SG and RG differences?
These bikes are no different than your sportster when it comes to turning. About the only time your bars are turned is for low speed manuevering in a parking lot. All other turns are really just leaning around a curve or leaning for a lane change.
A test ride and only a test ride will show the similarities and differences
in riding, handling, cornering, and sex appeal
If thats not possible, see which one gives you the bigger woody and
buy it
Along with the obvious differences in the fairing (shape, size, mount), the gauges, speakers and radio are farther away from you in the Road Glide. I personally have no issues with that, I like my space.
I owned a RG and now an Ultra and thats the biggest differance I see. Took a little while to get use to everything being so close on the batwing fairing. Didn't notice much differance in the wind buffeting. Both great bikes though. Its your preferance.
I also am a mangina and own a '09 1200N, but am looking to upgrade. rode the SG and loved it, but wanted to give the RG a fair shake/equal opportunity, so I also rode it. I was on the SG about 25 minutes, and took the RG for over 4 hours. compared to the sporty, it is just effortless above 15mph. I ride in a half helmet, and about 65mph, the wind is trying to remove it and push me off the bike on the sporty. On the RG, i was getting on the interstate, and hit 85mph before i realized it as there was just a little wind in my face compared to the sporty. both are great bikes, handle almost as well as the sporties, and would be a great upgrade. for me @ 5'10" w/ a 32" inseam, the RG is more comfortable, less buffeting, and more spacious as the fairing is farther away. But as most have said, go ride both. The bikes will make the decision for you.
