"built" 88ci?
I thought about doing the 95 kit as well while my Indy was doing the hydraulic tensioners and andrews cams and decided to leave it at 88CI, I figured the money would be better spent elsewhere, besides the bike runs fine
I port polished the heads, used SE 95 heads, Andrews 37G cam, SE tuner.
HP 100 and TQ 106
Yes it was worth it to me with out question. If you don't polish the heads you will loose a lot of HP an TQ. In my opinion go the entire distance all at one time or don't do any of it. Most doing the 95 Kit do not polish the heads and to me that is a major negative to what you want to create.
If you do not have stage I before build you must do that also.

Didn't do it myself. But for my $$ I replaced the tensioner set up with the HD SE set up and put in Andrews TW21 cams.
For the money spent I am very, very happy with the torque and power increase for the $$$. I'm not racing, and the enjoyment factor improved dramatically.

I put Andrews 21N cams on my bone stock (SE air cleaner + pro pipe) 88" motor last winter and am producing 78 HP and 88 ft lbs of torque. Not to shabby for an 88" considering a stock 96 only puts out around 69 HP.
thanks for all your replies, definitely some food for thought. I'm pretty capable of doing all my own work, have no problem with buying a couple extra tools provided they're not outrageously priced!! I will continue to think on this, and at the very least, do a stage one but use parts that will be useful for any further building...
Off hand, how much have you guys been paying for cams and a tune?

I have both. An 06 you can see the details in my sig and an 05 with a 95 kit. If your thinkin about a 95kit without SE heads dont do it. My neighbor has that set up and my 88ci runs circles around him. 70 mph 5th gear roll on he pulls me a little but by 80mph he's gettin passed. My 95 has 105hp 105 tq and is fun to ride but the 88ci is a better all around ride.
My current config on my 05 Eglide classic is stock 88 SE intake and filter kit, Andrews 26 cams, Older SE slippons (the noisier ones that actually make some power) and SE pro downloader. My brothers 05 Eglide has the 203 cams and SE flat top "95" piston kit, stage 1 intake and dyno tune. Top end we are about the same. He pulles me just slightly past the mid range. Meaning he can pull ahead of me but just hangs there about two bike lengths infront of me and doesn't gain anymore.
I bought the SE flat top "95" kit for mine. I believe the kit was about 150 bucks. I bought another set of cylinders to have bored for 200 dollars, Had them bored for about 50 each bringing the cost of the cylinders to about 300 dollars. Bought a set of better flowing 07 "96" heads off flea bay for 180.00, Just picked up the intake adapters to use the newer heads, for less then 20 bucks. Both the local Harley shop and the nearest Indy want about 600 to install it all including gaskets.

I'm running my stock 88ci bore with HQ0034 cams...really woke the motor up, and i haven't worried about doing a big bore since. I still kick around the idea of headwork from time to time, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I also did the hydraulic cam tensioner upgrade at the time the cams were installed.
