As with everything else, there are varying opinions on this...
Many will tell ya the stock pump, when combined with the Zippers CamPlate relief shim or the heavy duty spring are just fine. Admittedly, there are a ton of them (even w/o the shim or spring) out there working great with 10's and even 100's of thousands of miles on them.
I have used the SuperPump in my last 2 RG's and never had a problem. I had stock pumps in my EG and Heritage.... and.... uhhh.... they never had a problem either.
For either one to work and last, the most important thing is proper installation and alignment.
I just did the Feuling oil pump, lifters, and Zipper's bypass shim. I figured I only wanted to do the job once so I "upgraded" everything while the cams were out. For 07, the MOCO went with a different oil pump so I thought maybe they might have known something about their pump design. That being said, there are many. many factory oil pumps that are doing their job. The only factory pump failures I had read about were due to the cam tensioner particles going thru the pump and eating the aluminum housing up.
