I have one that i use when i'm riding my dirtbikes! I have a couple nasty crashes on youtube! Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj3TAiawcFU. This is not the new HD camera.
We have one and love it. You can see footage using ours on our webpage or on youtube. Just search Long Ride Shields. All of the footage from "rider perspective" was shot with that camera.
It's really nice because you can choose quality. You can do 1080, 720 and I think even smaller. This helps with file sizes. The video is recorded on a SD card. Be sure to get a big enough one to record enough for your trip. It is installed in a waterproof case that mounts to different mounts it comes with, so it's very versatile. I'm not sure what the water proof depth is, so check that before you go diving!!

I have an Epic. It's not quite as sophisticated but it's only $100 at Wal-Mart online. The pics are just about as good and it's got the waterproof case and sound just like the GoPro.
