Did you relocate the volt gauge or leave it off?

I just installed some Biketronics-Hertz 6½" speakers after exhaustive research and considering those on your list and many others, and I can say that they measure up to expectations and I'm very happy. I also have a 125W (@ 2Ω) Elf amp, which helps get the sound out, so I can't speculate on how they would sound with only the stock head unit.

Make that '06 !!! The HK upgrade started in 2006...

What do you mean? I have a J&M 250 watt amp and I can only go so loud before I get distortion. If not the loudness then what is causing it?

Mismatched components or maladjusted settings most likely the cause of your distortion.

I am currently driving the J&M Rokker 7.25" speakers off the front channels of an Arc KS125.4, same basic amp as J&M. I cam crank it full blast and there is no perceived distortion. I am running a JVC KD-AVX77 head unit. If you are using the stock head unit the internal amp will begin to clip at about 80% volume. So adjust your gains to work at 80% volume on the stock head unit. It'll sound much better. Never turn the factory head unit past 80% it's a pier of shyte and why I dropped $500 to replace it.

I am going to add the new Kuryakyn / Kicker 6x9 lids shortly. Hopefully I will get to hear them at Sturgis in a couple of weeks.

Substandard components within your system.

Any reason why you don't have J&M Rokkers on your list? I am very happy with mine. I am driving them with the Bazooka 200.4 amp and I could not be more pleased with the result....

BTW ,,, we will be releasing a new ROKKER II video next week, (just in time for Sturgis) which shows the J&M 2011 RoadGlide Ultra with a beautiful 6-speaker, 500w audio system, ((7.25" in the fairing, 7.25" in the lowers & 5.25" ROKKERS in the rear pods)) ,,,,

it is THE most impressive audio system I have heard to date on a Harley (or ANY motorcycle) ,,,,,,, it is very intense, good bass, good mids and crystal clear highs ,,,, http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=45 ,,,

the system is so impressive that were are going to have an audio system performance contest at the J&M trailer, parked at Black Hills HD in Rapid City, during the Sturgis rally ,,,,

anyone can bring their bike to the trailer during business hours, we will use the identical J&M demo CD for the test and evaluation by any customers that are around ,,,,

if any system performs better (in the majority opinion of the bystanders) than J&M's ROKKER II, we will give them a $100 credit toward the purchase of any J&M audio product ,,,,
