I like the Bruisers Inc one better because you can add end caps and fill the opening left at the back of the fender strut cover. It's more expensive, though, and it looks like they may be backordered or discontinued because I can't seem to find anyone selling them right now.
No need to pull the axle. This works best with a lift and scissor jack. Remove the lower shock bolts, then jack the bike up a couple of inches.This will allow the rear tire to drop enough to reach under the fender. This method works great on my RK, should work for you as well.
