Default Who knew it was this difficult?

Attempting this afternoon to relocate my license plate under rear tail light on my ultra. I have a relocator that i feel confident will work. I have been fighting it for an hour with no success...attempting to remove the two bolts that mount the rear turn signal bar. Just so little room under the rear fender. Any suggesions??

I just used a 1/2" or 9/16" short socket (can't remember which it was) and a Craftsman Stubby ratchet. Came right off.

Yea, the patience part is killing me. Also, my 05 Ultra has the chrome "loop" bar (not sure what it is really called / it is a "u" shaped piece on rear fender) where the stock plate was mounted. Does this piece come off? I thought it did but after looking closely im not so sure.

Faster to pull the axle & drop the wheel. Klockwerks kit (below) eliminates grab bar & stock strut covers.

131tman, do you have a part number or web address for that klockwerks kit? Google not showing me much.

Not sure it will help in your case, but when I changed out my license plate bracket on my '08 FLHX removing the taillight and using that opening made things much easier.

it sucks when the easy (or 5 min) jobs turn into a nightmare. I hate when that happens

I put the bike on a jackstand and let the wheel drop. Gave a lot more room for the hands to get in there. Also used a ratcheting box wrench.

Your license plate bracket ("grab bar") on the '05 will come off, but you need an eliminator kit like the one Bruisers Inc sells, or you won't be able to reattach your saddlebag brackets.
