Default Inner Fairing Mirrors

Has anyone taken apart the inner fairing mounted mirrors so that they can be painted. I just do not see how they can be painted correctly without being taken apart.

Mine were painted to match the inner fairing w/o dissassembly; the base and bulging area on the back were left unpainted---check-out the fairing mirror covers HD sells and that's what was painted. Not a perfect solution, but still glad to have them painted.

I bought the H-D paintable covers. I didn't have them when I had the inner painted & my painter advised me against painting the originals. Likely to peel around the adjustment post & the edge around the glass. Gonna get the covers painted soon & stick them on my Scarlet Red '10 FLHX.
