Honestly, for grips I use hairspray & it works very well. No glue mess, stick like crazy & easier removal whenever you change later. Got this tip from a supercross racing friend...if it holds up to that kind of punishment - gotta be worth trying. He was correct.
I use ISO grips and have since 2006. I highly recommend you pull the end caps and apply a touch of blue loctite to the allens and reassemble. Don't ask how I know. As far as the glue, I have never had a problem, but I have always been the one installing them. I have had buds who have had theirs come loose. Guess who installed those
I have the ISO with the throttle boss and helmet locks on both grips and love them. My left one has gotten loose after 3 years. I changed my switch housings last week and had read on this forum about wrapping the bar with electric tape but it is still a little loose so I am going to glue it. I think a little Gorila glue on the inner end will work because it expands.
I had the same problem. I called Iron Braid (a very good vendor) who I bought them through and they sent me to KuryAkyn. Kury said that Iso Grips fit that way to accomodate a wider variety of bikes. They suggested that I slide the switch housing onto the handlebar further to take up the slack in their sloppy fit. It worked, but I guess that I'm ****, I will be replacing the Kury grips with Avons as soon as I get a chance.
Kury told Me the same thing. I tried sliding the housing forward, but it still sloppy and I was not satisfied. They should make them model specific.
I had the Kury Iso-Grips installed by my local H-D dealer in 2004 when my bars were replaced. Have had zero issues and I love those grips...fit, function, and looks are all outstanding. Didn't realize there were any fit issues with them.
I had the iso grips on my 2006 Streetglide
What i did not like was
1. The grips never stayed in place. four times I had to glue them. My mech said this is common for these grips.
2. In the summer you have to wear gloves or your hands will get black.
3. they were supposed to help with my carpel tunnel.. they did not..
On my 2010 ultra I went with a set avon grips.
1. Grips have stayed in place.
2. They use a different rubber so it won't come off on your hands.
3. They helped me with my carpel tunnel.
I think they are more comfortable than the iso grips.
just my humble opinion..
