Agree with Capt Caveman. Being able to adjust her feet and relieve the pressure from her rear end is critical. And if you're gonna spend that much more money, might as well get some crazy mods from Mean City Cycles.
Seats and butts take a few rides to get broken into each other. Cotton underwear is not a good idea in hot weather, once it gets damp from sweat you may as well be sitting on sandpaper.
Your not alone. Me and my girl friend took a 2400 mile ride on a stock seat on my 08 Ultra and she loved it. I didn't. Just bought a Sundowner and took a 400 mile ride and it hurt her butt. Guess I'm going to be looking around too. Good luck.
We are very happy with the Mustang touring seat. (Wife is 5' 4" and 130). It made both of us happy.
I was afraid about spending a lot of money as well. The think about Mustang that sold me, was they told me to try it and if not happy in 10 days return it.
So we rode the hell out of it for the 10 days and ended up loving the seat. (I also ended up buying a solo when I put the tp removable kit on).
I highly recommend sending the seat to Mean City Cycles. He can make the seat more comfortable for both of you. What he does really is custom. He custom cuts specific foam for lighter people, shapes it for her. For heavier people he uses totally different foam. We've had 3 seats done by them and been totally happy with all three.
We took a 2300 mile trip on our 2006 Ultra and then decided that our stock seat was not acceptable. So, we bought a Mustang and loved it. I know that I got spoiled because I hate the stock seat on my 2010 Limited and I am saving my pennies to buy another Mustang. Well worth the money in my book.
I have bought 5 seats in 18 months for my Ultra Limited, The last has been the ticket I should have vit the bullet then and been money ahead. The Mustang Regal touring seat has been the best for us. I told a buddy and he bought one for his softail. another happy a$$ because of the mustang seat company
I decided I did not want and could not afford to chase the "comfortable for both of us" seat. I stuck with my mustang and got her an Airhawk pad, problem solved.
