I traded the heritage for a Street glide, If I had it to do over I would probably get the classic. But all that aside . There are those that have a bagger, and those that will in the future[8D]. Never thought I would want a radio, I never listen to one in a cage, But I listen to the CD and the radio all the time on the scoot and love it. Having a blast fixing up the street glide, I am not to far from Custom paint and I should be done for a while, or atleast that is what I am telling the wife.

I love my Road Glide. Just wish I could ride it without drowning every weekend on the BRP.[:@]

I love my rk custom. The way I see it, I have the ultimate bike. Actually like having multiple bikes in one. Dress it up for touring, strip it down for local jaunts. A radio is nice, I use a mp3 some of the time, so I might consider a detachable fairing, at some point. But, there is so much more on my to do list, that a fairing ranks at the bottom. Good luck deciding. The touring bikes are the next craze. They are everywhere, and for good reason. They rock.

Bought in 07 Road King Custom 2 weeks ago and have to admit it is so much of a better ride and I feel much better on it then my 05 night train that I still have but is for sale. Girly likes the ride alot better too. At the time I'll ride for a few hours at a clip but I haven't been out for long highway trips so the fairing are nothing too me at the time. Maybe someday.

Thanks for the help guys !
Almost everyone is saying they prefer a fairing but then PapaTravis brings up the point about a detachable windshield. Does a Road King's windshield create more wind noise than a bike with a fairing ? I can't even hear the engine now because of wind and my ears ring after a long ride. Whatever I get, I know I'd be happier but stepping up to a fairing makes me feel like I can't ever go back to my current riding style. I just never rode a bike with a big fairing like that before and that makes this a tough decision. I sure as hell can't afford to change bikes every couple years because I made the wrong decision. I'm going to have to test ride a few to make sure what I want.

Let's say I get a Classic for the extra trim and a softer seat but want it to look more like a Street Glide. I realize the first thing I need to do is get a detach kit for the tour pack but after that...

Can I add a detachable sissy bar on a Classic ?
Can I lower the Classic's rear end for some attitude without hurting the ride quality ?
Can the fairing be removed if I ever get the itch to ride like I do now ? If so, how hard is it to do and what would it look like ?

I used to have a '05 Softail Standard. I hated riding the bike unless I was in town. There was so storage, wife was not comfortable and riding on the highway with no windshield is for the birds.

A few months ago I traded it in on a '07 Electra Glide Classic. I haven't looked back once. I have put more miles on the EGC in 2 months than I did on the Softail in 2 years. The bike is so comfortable I swear I could ride it all day.

I went with the Classic because of all the storage space and the radio. You can't beat the radio for long distance rides. I can think of nothing better than riding through the mountains jamming to my favortie CD's. It feels like I am the king on the world. If your going to do alot of 2 up riding than I would sugest the Ultra. Either way, the Classic or the Ultra, I think is the way to go.
WHAT HE SAID! I never thought a fairing and a radio were what I wanted, but then I rode my friends Road Glide and it was all over. Now I am smiling each and every mile I go.

Bigbender,It was weird for me to have to look above the windshield and or through it, while test riding a Road King. With the fairing on my Road Glide I was able to purchase the right size windshield that offered protection yet without the weird look through it or over it thing.

I hate to admit it guys but this short trip street jockey is starting to get the "bagger" fever. I was warned about this before I bought my Fatboy but I blew it off.
Here some more of the "bagger virus" to keep you infected! Is it feed a fever, starve a cold?

I'm glad I bought the Classic, A little cleaner looking than the Ultra. As far as detatch stuff, you can get anything but once you have it on and use it as much as I do you may never want it off. You will never be able to take the faring off.
