Alright, I have a 2010 Street Glide that is bone stock. Yesterday on a trip in the North Ga. mountains I hit some rain,..no wait a DELUGE. Anyway not the first time in the rain but the first time on a glide. I could not get over the fact the rain in my face was from underneath????What the Heck? How can I prevent this?
lol yeah I notice that on my Electra Glide as well. It was weird at first, I believe it is just the way the air flows over the bike and causes it to blow up from underneath, infact I have seen the rain go forward as well, I had to look to make sure what I was seeing was right lol.
As far as a fix I never tried to, I just chalk that up as part of the experience. Others I am sure are far more experienced in this but you might not be able to fix this, just aerodynamics. Thats my guess anyway, I am sure someone else that knows way more will come along shortly.
You can stretch a bungee between your mirrors ( if bar mounted) and hang a rag or towel over it.
the chrome baffle ( the 1/2 dish shaped one- $26) helps too.
the fork mounted deflectors work great, about eighty bucks. you are correct about the air coming from the back. just a note, the heavier rain drops are still going to hit from the front, but the blast that comes up from the sides of the tank will be gone.
