This probably isn't the right section for this but I spend most of my time here in the touring forum. My dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer a month ago. At first they gave him a year but 4 days later it was 4-6 months. The cancer is in his liver, lungs and brain. A month ago he was a daily runner and cylclist who had never been seriously ill and now he can barely walk on his own.
We were supposed to go on a family trip next year to Hawaii but have now bumped it up to early next month (supposed to fly out on the 8th). Since he was diagnosed this trip has literally been the only thing he can talk about. Up until today the doctors all said that he should have no problem going and now the odds aren't looking so good (he is now in the hospital and may be coming home at the end of the week to hospice care). Unless his kidneys and liver improve his last wish (this trip) may not happen. I would do anything to make this happen for him but feel helpless at this point.
Although I am not the most religious person I did grow up in the church and *my parents are both still very active in it. My mom taught Sunday school for years and both she and my dad have served as deacons. Up until this my dad played the trumpet every week at church. So I have humbly come here to ask my Harley bothers (and sisters) for your prayers.
Thank you!
Brian

Prayers sent. My father in law went fast with Leukemia. Forget about the vacation and spend as much time with him now, in case he does go fast. God Bless.
Thansks Ron750. We are spending time together now but the trip is all he can talk about and is the main thing keeping him going. It was his request/idea and we all want to make it happen for him.
Brother, I feel your pain. I lost my dad after a short and painful battle with spinal cancer that got to his brain. We lost him 2 days after Christmas. I thank god for the days we had everyday, and the last of our yearly trips to East Coast Sturgis last year. It's a heart wrenching battle to have to watch them go through it, knowing there is little you can do. I pray for you and your family and hope that everything goes as well as can be for you.
Brian, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I lost my father back in '97 to cancer. He was a tough old dude, serving in both the Army & Marines. Spend as much time with him as you can. Talk as much as you can. I hope you all can make your trip.
Prayers sent. Try to enjoy the time you still have. Don't dwell on the sickness but the happy times you've shared together in the past. In the end they care more about how you'll do without them, and it comforts them to know that you'll be fine.
