Is the factory airfilter can be cleaned or I have to change it? And if I buy a K&N style filter, do I need a fuel management system or I can leave everything stock. I have monster ovals slip-ons.
You can probably knock most of the loose dust out of the filter or blow it with air but I just replaced the filter before I got my SE AC from FuelMoto. I don't think it's washable. Can't tell you about the fuel manager.
I'm pretty sure the stock air filter is not a washable element. Not 100% sure though, I've never had one on long enough to get dirty enough to change. As far as upgrading just the filter with a K&N element, you shouldn't have to do a FMS, you're just swapping filters. If you went to a full Stage 1 intake, or another style intake, then you would need a tune.
The filter is washable once, you just can't use it as an airfilter after that though. In a bind you could carefully knock the dust out of it and carefully blow through it with a compressor.
Yep its washable. See owners manual for instructions.
Hey no chit, Diablo is right on this one. This statement is taken from my '06 owners manual:
"The paper/wire mesh air filter element should be washed in luke warm water with a mild detergent. Allow the filter to either air dry or blow dry it, from the inside, with low pressure air"
