On my current bike, I went with a TTS and had it Dynotuned which IMO is a superior product and the final result is superior. With that being said, the key to getting it dialed in with a TTS or similar product is getting a person who really knows what their doing on a dyno. That can be the hard part. How far are you from IL ??
About a 5 hour drive, Time and distance is part of the problem I'm having. I don't mind taking and dropping off the bike, I just don't have the time available to go that far twice ( drop off and pickup ) and I would not exspect them to drop everything and do it while I waited ether, I know tunning can take quite a bit of time. Not to mention with the gas prices what the final cost would be on that tune ! the trips could cost more than the tune itself !

Download the latest thundermax software, update your ECM's firmware, download the latest base maps and you will likely find one that you can use. Just did my buddies 103" / 255 cam softail and it runs GREAT.

+1; good advice. If the base map is right and you spend the next 200-300 miles letting the A/T feature dial it in, you won't be far off. Stage II is basically a cam only upgrade and shouldn't require a lot of tweaking to the ignition curve unless she pings. I wouldn't throw in the towel yet but, you are right in that there is no substitute for a proper dyno tune.

I have the latest version and firmware from zippers, The problem is the 255 cam was not available in 04 and the fuel injection is somewhat different on 07 on up bikes so there is not a map made for 04 heads and injection with 255 cams, I have a mix that there just is not a dead on match from them. and they did a map for me that did not work when I did a comparison between there custom map and a close map from the list that I'm using, they are so different timing and fuel air wise, I couldn't believe that just going from the stock 103 cam, a 258 I think, not sure, to the 255, would have to have such a different map, they were not similar at all. So that too is telling me it really needs to have a map generated on the dyno.

I have put over 1,300 miles on and have done numerous read map and re-cal with there program and it did get better with the miles, but with the miles and checks it now says that the bike is at its max tune state, and it just doesn't run right at lite load (it stumbles and misses a bit and you can tell the front and rear cylinders are off from each other some buy the sound) but if you put a bit of a load on it sounds and runs good. Gas mileage is OK I think, around 36 mpg combined and 38 highway, would be better I think with a good tune.

I think your in a bit of a conundrum!! I"m not sure the Autotune is going to get you where you need to be? I know it will add expense but in the long run, I would sincerely suggest you consider switching to a TTS or similar system where you can over write the ECM and get it spot on. That obviously must be done on a Dyno in the hands of an experienced tuner. If done right it will be like driving a different bike.

If you make an appointment, I don't think it is unreasonable to drop it off in the am and wait for it to be done. You may have to drive it or haul it a ways but you will be very happy in the end. Just my .02. Not sure where you are located but there are at least 2 in the IL area that have been recommended on this forum and other forums. If it's any consolation I trailered mine 400 miles one direction to get mine done. I know that sounds crazy but it was worth it and others i'm sure have gone further.

Sounds like you have run everything to ground and have run out of ideas. As I see it, you have three options:

1. If you can find a dyno tuner that can work with the TMax and tune your configuration
2. Replace the TMax with the TTS and sell the TMax on Ebay; very popular and you will sell it quick.
3. Keep the TMax, replace the 255 cams with the Andrews 48H which is very similar in profile; great low end torque but will carry out farther and should make more HP thant the 255. Zippers should have a map for that configuration that will dial in.

You pays your money and you takes your choice!
