Question Thunder Max Ecm ___ Dyno tune

Is there No One in Southeast Mich. that can tune a Thunder Max ECM ? I listed this over in the Tech area a week or so back and not One reply. The auto tune can only do so much, Needs to be dailed in on a dyno. 04 Ultra SE 103 stage 2 - Thunder Max with autotune.

In theory the idea behind the Autotune is to eliminate the need for a Dynotune. Why do you think you want to Dynotune a Autotune? I used to have a Thundermax on my previous bike so I owned that tuner. It was okay, but the secret of course is getting the correct base map for your starting point.

On my current bike, I went with a TTS and had it Dynotuned which IMO is a superior product and the final result is superior. With that being said, the key to getting it dialed in with a TTS or similar product is getting a person who really knows what their doing on a dyno. That can be the hard part. How far are you from IL ??

I owned one for a short time but never had it installed although my Indy swears by them - with no Dyno by the way.... I had a guy tune my PCV with a scanalyzer?? Whatever he used dialed my bike in 100% - I had the autotune module before and could never get it right - my bike builds torque like no tomorrow now... Good luck in your search!

You have to have O2 sensor in each exhaust pipe for auto tune to do it's thing and tune. IMO

Every auto-tune needs a dyno tune to establish the base map for it to tune to. Not to mention that the auto-tune does nothing at all for timing, so you need to get on a dyno to have the timing adjusted.

Bean at www.bigboyzheadporting.com has done a few Thundermax dyno tunes............but he's in Maine, so that would be a heck of a drive for ya, but worth it in the end.

You are right on the money ! One problem is, Thunder Max does not have a base map match for my 255 cams as they were not made back in 04 ( I reworked a set to fit the older inner bearings and went with the new style hyd. chain tenioners -oil pump - bumped compression alittle - cleaned up the ports ) anyway it pulls right off line just like I wanted, but has a little hickup at lite throttle cruise. Yes the timing needs to be set ( spark and injectors ) and the front and rear cylinders should be done seperatley. The only thing that Auto-tune can do is airfuel ratio adjustments, and each engine is a little different from the next, I feel you need a dyno tune to get the map set up right in the first place.

You are correct on that, They are installed and working, Map is not a perfect match. One not available for my engine set up. Called Zippers and told them what I had done and they sent me a map they made up but my bike would not run right on it. Runs better ( Good ) with a somewhat close map from there (Thunder Max) list of maps. Still needs a Good Dyno tune.
