Default seat bolt snapped

So I am in the garage cleaning the bike and I take of the sundowner to put my stock seat on for a solo long ride, I hear ping ping, WTF? Out of the fender falls the nut for the rear seat. Snapped....oh well guess its better than being on the bike when that happened. I think I will pick up two of tommorow. Seems like something that may be an issue swapping the seat as often as I do.

put a little lube on the threads of the new nut, and don't overtighten the seat machine screw- just kinda finger tight +

probably over torqued and stretched the clips.

if fishing in the new one- a bass guitar string might be helpful, for those who have them lying around.

Theres a trick to replacing it, something about using a string. Do a search for it.

Tape the nut to a coat hanger (straightened with a little bend on end) or a piece of heavy wire and slide it up under the fender. It helps to have someone with a magnet to guide it thru.

You are running the seat bumper kit that was covered in a bulletin for the 09 and 10 FLHX and FLTRX's on the Sundowner, yes?

Dawg, I am not. I am going to look into that this week. As I was searching for how to fix this I saw your post on the bumper kit. Thanks

BTW, i found and easy way to replace the nut. I use 3 zip ties. 1 goes through the nut, 2 other zip ties attached together and I feed the two down towards the tire, I then reach in, grab the 2 zip ties, attach the 3rd one and pull up through the hole in the fender. Then put the u clamp on the nut. Took me about 15 minutes.
