Made from stainless? What did you use to drill them? Stainless doesn't drill to easily.

Just joined the club on my 06 street glide...33,000 miles ordered the Ragans. Only the throttle side speaker support was the only unbroken.

It is incredible that Harley ignores a defect so common that small business entrepreneurs develop, manufacture and market solutions to correct it.

Does the condition still exist with late model bikes? It seems to me there was a part number change for an improved version or something. Anyone know what year was the new part factory installed and if it is susceptible to failure too?

Stainless can drill easy. Just use LUBE and a sharp bit. and don't overheat the bit. use lots of lube

So I got these off Ebay (after hearing about them in this forum) and installed them over the top of my existing un-broken brackets. These supports are stainless steel and precision made. They fit perfect only requiring some holes to be drilled. Here are some pics of the radio set up and the brackets.

I have to agree...this stuff is top notch! My brackets had not failed...but it was just a matter of time!

$$$ well spent!

Ragan's is great. You get the complete kit, bolts, nylon lock nuts and new drill bit to drill with. You don't drill the stainless pieces just the original brackets they mate up with. Here's his site where you can order direct from with a video demo on the install. I think it's a good deal.

My 05 has almost 80,000 miles and mine orginal's aren't broken. But have been thinking about these. Have a friend tell me about them several months ago. Looks like an easy fix to the problem..
