Default 103 Heads Porting/Polishing and what else?

I have to admit that I didn't do my research 2 years ago when I had the 103 kit put into my 10 Road King. I wish I would have been on this site, I'm sure I would have made a more informed decision.

The Problem: The bike compression locks when it is hot outside. It is not supposed to (according to my dealership). It is a 103 build using the SE kit with 255 cams. It used to bank and vapor lock. I fixed the bang by replacing the compensator with the SE. (Dealer wouldn't do it for me) I know it is only a matter of time before the starter wears out with this issue.

The Question: If I have automatic compression releases put in, will it solve the problem? I think it will. If it will, what else should I have done with the 103 heads while they are off? I will probably take them off myself this Winter. I won't be drilling them for the releases, but I will likely install them and put it back together myself. Is porting/polishing the route to go while they are off and what will it do for me? Should I get them milled and increase compression with the thought of replacing the cams eventually?

Thanks for any and all help.

If your going to remove them,I would do the cams and have the heads built for the motor.
Well worth the money if you plan on keeping the bike for awhile.

Yes, the compression releases will fix your hot start problem. You can have your heads gone over, but you don't want to raise the compression if you're going to be putting the 255 cams back in. A good head porter can go over your options with you. I"m with flhtk4me, do it right and have the heads match your build and you'll be a happy dude.

You might also look into "Easy Start Cams" rather than pulling the heads.
