Some of those pins gave me fits, they just didn't want to let go.

But, finally.

Like most things there is a trick to getting the pins out easily. Not sure if these photos are going to come out in the correct order, but basically this is how the connectors and pins work. Photo 1 should be a picture of the good old paperclip in the hole. The problem is the release is not a button or clip that needs to be depressed. It is a lever that needs to be pushed aside. In Photo 2 the white clip is removed for the photos (should not be removed to get the pins out). If you look close you can see some little horseshoe shaped objects above the pin hole. You need to get your tool down in that groove to release the pins. If the paper clip is to big, the square end simply won't go down the groove and release the pins. I made a little tool out of some scrap aluminum and a drill bit. Drill the rod, cut off the drill flutes and loctite it into the rod. Photo 3. Then sharpen the tip to a point. The tool will now go easily into the groove and push out the pin release. Photo.4. Photo 5 shows the white plastic insert left in place and the pointed tool going into the pin hole. The groove is now easily located and the pins will pop right out.

After looking at the finished post, the photos are in reverse order. Just start on the bottom and everything should make sense.

When I put my new 509s on, I ran new wire thru the bars, cut the old wire and soldered the new wire to the old ones. Made it alot easier for me.
