Default Cam question

I got 30,000 plus on my 2006 Ultra Glide Classic. After hearing all the Cam Chain Tensioner stories, I decided to have mine replaced and upgraded. My indy mech recomends the Screamin Eagle Hydraulic upgrade. When I asked him about swappin out cams, he recomended Andrews 27. Motors a stock 88 with Stage 1 and dual Rhineharts. $1400 with a Dyno Tune. Two questions, anyone else have this set up and does the price sound about right?

Thanks

Price might be close, figuring the cams are $700+ by themselves. Got the parts & did it myself. A little more torque taking off from a stop, even with stock grind. No dyno needed.

I don't have that set up, but I heard the Andrews 27 works great in the 88. The price sounds Very good !

andrews 27? Not a 26 or 37?

I think that's a good price. Search cam upgrade...info is plentiful on the forum.

Make sure he replaces the inner cam bearings with a better grade - like b148 torringtons.
ask if that includes 2 new cam chains also.

Andrews are fairly common cams...I thought they were 21, 26, and 37's though.

Keep us posted on when it's finished....

I'm also not familiar with the 27's. I've seen stock 88's run the 21's and 26's, and 95+" run the 37s.

He might have said 26, unless I went to 95 then 37's. Not a whole lotta sleep the last week.

If staying at 88" I recommend the Andrews 21, absolutely love mine.

Picked it up today. I went with the Andrews TW-26 cam and the S/E roller chain upgrade kit. 78.78hp and and 85.37 torq. Up from 74.20hp and 74.84 torque. Bike has Stage 1 with true duals and Rhinehart mufflers, Dyno Tune III and SE A/C. Definately could tell from the seat of the pants dyno too. My old Cam chain tensioners were just starting to break apart. Leaving Thursday on a 3500 mile ride. Real happy with the results....

The 26's are great bagger cams for 88 inchers. You'll be very happy with them unless you don't like to shift until 5000 rpms.
