A good welder can lay a bead as smooth with a stick, mig or gas as they can with a tig...Just sayin
No matter how good you are, no weld looks as good as a tig...period.
Many people that can weld thicker metal very well, can never get the hang of welding thin stuff.
Many times people use welders that they have access to through friends or work...and they don't have the correct size wire or rod...and wind up with an overheated weld that cracks in short order.
OK age check...how many people here have gas welded an exhaust pipe with a coat-hanger?

Yep ... That's how I learned how to gas weld ... on Volkswagen "heat exchangers"

To achieve a reliable weld or brazing one must feel comfortably installed to constantly control the aspect of the melting metal bath. Stand away from draft air.
With a bit of experience you can predict the final aspect of the weld from what you see as you proceed.
Very thin material is super easy to melt with a micro-TIG (2.5 > 25 Amps) as long as you are properly installed and have prepared the work.
Use a fine stainless-steel brush to remove burnt residues while the weld is still hot or hot water with a sponge to remove the Borax after brazing.
