Default Shorter shocks on 2012 street glide

Hey Guys,
I was looking at a 2012 streetglide today and I mentioned having the shocks sent to bitchin baggers to get cut down so I can flat foot. The dealer says I cant do that but I did it on my 06 roadking. He says the shocks will hit the bags. Any one know if this is true.

What a genius and you believe him? Show me how shortening a shock that is already behind the bag will hit if you shorten them. Shocks go up and down, not side to side. If his statement was true then the shocks would hit every time you go over a bump or the shock compresses.

Yeah, I don't see how they would hit the bags.
But, the factory shocks on the Street Glide are already 1" shorter than the Road King.

If you put shorter shocks on the SG, you won't have much suspension travel at all.

your bike, but I gotta ask.

what percentage of time do you need to "flat foot", what percentage of time do you want cornering clearance and suspension travel?

When I stop I have my right foot on the brake and my left on the ground- lightly...keep the bike upright and weight on the tires--- when you leave the stop you'll go straight rather than the wobble/swerve I see so many newer riders do.

But it's your bike--- all that said i do have 1 bike that is lowered so far ( FXRP, 4" rear, 3.5" front) that it barely turns...but it looks cool- and I have other bikes to ride that turn and stuff.

thinking your dealer was thinking you meant lowering blocks, which can cause clearance concerns with the bags.

Lockport, fond memories of a club there in the early 80's "after dark"--- used to ride down from Toronto

whassup ch? long time no hear. seems we seem to have the same issues throughout.... how is that c&c seat doing for you? have a danny gray speed cradle on my roadglide, and most of the time it's good, but when it's really hot out, seems to fit different and my *ahem* will fall asleep. that is a really weird feeling

anyway, i sent a pair of shocks that i bought off another forum member to bitchin baggers and had them cut down to 11-1/4''. yeah, they ride a little harsher, but i haven't noticed any problems with draggin hard parts on turns. i'm happy with them.

Hey skratch,
I had the shocks on my road king custom shortened and I love the ride. For you other guys the custom was same height as the streetglide. Im gonna call bitchin baggers today and ask them. The dealer was a real tool. I argued with the dealer about the shocks but like I said he was an idiot.
