While I'm bitching about Harley's silly use of crappy fasteners, I'm also pissed that they spec the torque in IN-lbs (when all other specs in the world, and all torque wrenches that I own, are specified in FT-lbs). It means that the previous owner incorrectly torqued these screws to 12 times the intended value. Sheesh... s...

Oh yeah, definitely change from hard steel bolts with a superior interface like torx to a softer stainless steel bolt with an allen head. Great idea. Might as well go for the regular old slotted screws.
Most of the problem people have with the torx head bolts used on the derby cover is user error. T27 folks.

I installed an Alloy Boltz stainless steel fastener kit on my '03 Heritage. It came with ARP, grade 8, polished Stainless Steel, 12 point fasteners.... their instructions call for using antiseize OR blue loctite...I decide to use Blue 243 on all fasteners.... on the ones I've removed, I have not noticed any issues (corrosion)...
