Sorry I didn't photo that step... Place the shock upright in a vice and use the syringe to allow the oil to drip into the 5/16 hose...even dripping the oil into the hose you'll need to stop a few times to expell the air from the shock.. each shock takes about 45 minutes to do. 15 to drain ...30 minutes to fill.

Also, on the fronts...seems it can be done using just the fork-oil drain bolts at the bottom of the sliders?

Mighty vac may work ...dunno I dont have one. A .50 5/16 hose and .50 brass fitting does work. As for removing the oil from the drain screws ...yup , that what there for. Installing ??? Works on lower units for boats so it may work.... To remove the lower inner fairing piece takes 15 minutes...clean and easy. You try the oil install with the drain screw and let us know if that works, lol.

I thought my front shocks were very spongy from new. I drained and added SE Heavy Fork Oil and they are perfect now.

Can I assume that a 2008 road king would use the same amount of oil in each fork?

I also used a syringe to "suck " out the rear shock oil...found one with a bigger tip and threaded it int the shock....pulled the oil right out no problem.

Re-filled the same way...filled the syringe 2 oz at a time...pushed it right in..... had to release a little air when pushing it in.. worked like a charm
total process.....15 min each shock

Default 2 questions

1st do you need to put the bike on a jack to take the pressure off the forks, or just so it is straight up and down? Might wheel choke work?
2nd is would it hurt to use some of the extra ounces of oil to let run thru like a rinse? Sounds like the stuff that drains out is pretty nasty.
Thanks for a great write up and taking the time to share with all of us.
Kris
