This is exactly what I found on my bike today with 6900 miles. I heard noise and felt some vibration, my wife kept asking me what the hell I was doing, pulling clutch lever, nothing changed. I did add a decent amount of tire pressure to front and rear tires. At our next stop I checked the tire and it is slightly cupping, just enough to cause some noise Having just bought my bike from the dealer you would have thought they would have checked tire pressures. But this is the same dealer that put a new battery in my bike, didn't road test it after and when I came by at closing time to pick up the bike the ABS light was steadily on!
Tire pressure is low...32-33 psi Recommended on tire says 42.. This could very well be the cluprit, just cant feel it on the tire yet. So if I just pump up the tire to recommended pressure will this allow the tire to begin to wear normally or is the tire shot? Thanks everyone for the responses!!

Mine were in the mid 20's so I put them at 42. Depending on how bad the tire is cupped will determine if they will indeed wear normal again. Its safe to ride, but annoying in any case. Glad I checked my pressures this morning, what a pain in the *** it is with the spoke wheels!
...ya...I agree with those who say tire..i have the same thing going on with my 05...I have the original tire still on the front, and I can just lean slightly to left or right while riding along, and feel a slight vibration...think it's time for a tire...rear has already been replaced, time for a front...

I hope this is where your problem is, if it's not try and pull the clutch and keep the engine at or about the same rpm's and see if it makes any difference, I can own mine and this is where I'm feeling the vib you describe, I feel it more going through the gears than anything else, I may have my crank runout checked or take a look at my compensator, I don't know, I'm about ready to give up!!

Im pretty confident the vibration is coming something other than the engine/transmission.. I believe it to be either the tire or a bearing.
I started noticing some vibration and noise when taking a left turn more than a right turn also at a bout 5,000 miles. I thought it was the front tire and just watched it to see if the vibration or noise would get worse. I have over 13,000 on the bike now and the vibration and noise hasn't got any worse. I'm not that worried about it now since it hasn't gotten any worse. At first I did wonder of it was a bearing but since it hasn't gotten worse I just figure it's the tire after reading many of other threads about the same thing.
cupped tieres are ussually cuased by low air pressure, fell them (u wont see it unless u know what to look for)one side of the tread will be slightly higher than the other at every groove.

Thanks for the info.. The rear tire was almost 10 psi low. Tomorrow I am going to fill it up right and see what happens. If it does happen to be cupped, will getting it to the right pressure fix it or does the tire need to be replaced?
