You don't have to jump all of the way up to a Batwing. Why not check out a Heritage, or a Dyna? If you watch the classifieds, there are some good deals on here.
I've considered the other lines, but if I'm going to go for the ability to ride however long I feel like, I'd rather be in it for the long haul. Literally lol.
Also, I do want to keep my Sporty seeing as its my first road-going bike aside from being on two wheels my whole life. I just know that I'd miss it. Plus, I'd like to be that guy some day who still owns his first.. whatever it may be. Anything saved from today is going to be a classic in 30 years or so.
Been thinking about joining the dark side..... I realize I'll have some trade offs, but I really fell in love with a 2011 SG in the white denim color.
......... just a point of clarification here .........
..... while said SG may convey some kind of 'badboy' attitude to it's rider, if you're really going to the Darkside, you'll need to go here.
Absolutely keep the sporty if possible. I'm sure glad I did! Hell I ride it every chance I get, its just so much fun to zip around town with it and fully capeable to go the distance if need be
If you're keeping the Sporty, then there is no downside other than $. I went from Sporty to Road King 8 months ago, and the only downside I see is not having the Sporty to ride to a food mart that's maybe a mile from my house. If I had a Sporty, it would be the food mart bike, but that would be it.
I had a 99 wide glide, then 04 fat boy. My 11 sg is my favorite by far. super comfy, cruise control is one of those"can't believe I ever rode without it"toys. Best part is the radio. All around an amazing bike.
I went from a '07 1200C to the EGC in June. Like others said, don't ride if you don't want to buy. It was quite a difference. While I would say I did loose the zippiness of the Sporty, I gained a great ride and a lot of storage. Oh, and a radio to boot which I enjoy.
Now I can jump on the highway and not get beat to death by the wind. It's actually quite enjoyable now.
