I too was worried that I would miss my Fat Bob if I traded it in for a road glide. I really liked my Bob but I don't miss it at all. My road glide rocks! As others have posted, don't ride one unless you are ready to buy one!

+1, I was confused also, never heard of touring frame being the "dark side", doesn't make much sense to me.

I traded in my 2007 FXDSE (Screamin Eagle Dyna) for the 2011 Road Glide, and have not looked back, night and day difference in the comfort and ability to haul things around. As far as going from a non-fairing bike to a bike with a fairing, I should of done it years ago, I just did not want a WHIMPSHIELD, the stock visor works well for my, still allowing my to feel the wind on my face and provides some buffering relief.

That's right, I forgot about that. I worded it the way I did because most Sportster guys don't seem to care about having the long drive comfort and such. I guess it just stuck to me after so long.

Seeing as I won't have the financial means for a year or two, I'll just be getting more experience in the mean time then. I've personally never ridden with a windshield of any type but I've never heard anything bad about them at all. Lots of good input here though and I appreciate it guys

Also, as far as the fairing statement goes, I was more so referring to going from being able to see your front fender to not. The lack of visibility kinda bothered me the first time I sat on a bike with a fairing, but it's been going away slowly. I should've worded that differently.

I always rode without a windshield and really thought I liked it that way. Then, I bought one for cool weather riding and literally haven't ridden without it since. It makes a world of difference in comfort and protection IMO.
