Went on a ride yeaterday and a friend borrowed his dad's RG because his RK is down. We stopped at a HD shop and they had 3 or 4 RG on the floor. They are really starting to grow on me, but the color and paint scheme is important. I just turned 40 Thursday, does this mean I'm getting old?
I turned 50 a few months back, been riding since I was 14, harleys for better than a decade. Thurday I take reciept of my 2012 RG Custom, Chrome Yellow!! I test rode a 2011 and have a buddy who rides one religously...I can't say enough about how well they ride. I've currently been riding an '02 RK that I've put plenty of blood, sweat and CASH into. I also recently had an '07 Street Glide. Liked the bike, but didn't care for the 96-inch motors. also, felt crowded by the fairing. I like the offset of the RG fairing, not to mention it's 'fixed', giving it a lot more stability. You're not getting old, you're just exploring other options. Never limit yourself.
Yes, you are getting old, but, the alternative to not getting any older isn't very good. Get yourself a FUGLY, enjoy the heck out of it and don't worry about getting old. Old Guys Rule!

I agree, perhaps you are just getting some REFINED tastes. I have never understood the Rad Glide haters. I think they look nice.
I always liked the look, BUT I prefer the batwing fairing when riding---
That was confirmed last bike shopping cycle when I rode an Ultra, Ultra Limited, RG Ultra and SG CVO... and confirmed that for me- the batwing fairing worked best and that the stock 96" was fine compared to the cost of the 103 or 110.
That's the beauty of the demo fleet coming to town
Have and had other frame mounted fairing bikes, like the FXRP... I like being able to tuck into the batwing in crap weather

Getting Old? In Ca RG riders are younger than your normal HD touring owner from the 100s I've met on the road and at dealerships. I'm 44 and only the RG gave me an impression of attitude and performance 1st that the old school batwings lacked. Obviously I own a SG also, but it does not stir my soul like the RG. When we ride in large groups the older dudes don't get the RG while younger guys flock and talk about that being their next HD purchase.
