I gotta go with the Ultra Classic being dropped in favor of the Limited. The Classic fits the buyer who isn't interested in a full frills bike (or won't spend the bucks).

Sitting outside the dealership today watching bikes come and go, mostly Classics and Ultras, and some StreetGlides. Of course, most were returning from Sturgis, so that may have made a difference. The dealer showroom is 75% touring bikes.

the street glide is way overpriced..it is the same price as a classic, but there is a couple thousand dollars of parts missing..the high price is just for the popularity..

.. i shouldn't have said it was an ugly bike. i like chrome but if you dont like it, or are powdercoating the parts, it would be perfect.. and ether a cut down(SG style)seat should have been used, or a sissybar should of came on the bike..the huge rear seat looks out of place with nothing behind it

I think it would be a good idea for Harley to merge the limited and the Ultra into one bike. This would take care of the 80k plus income group. A large percentage of these bikes end up being garage queens and Sunday riders.
With the merger of the Limited and the Ultra they need to bring back the Standard. This is a great bike for the 60K and less income crowd. This bike is routinely used more for local transportation and is a great bike for the do it yourself crowd.

The bike is a great blank canvas to start with.

Think about how many limited’s and Ultra end up with the aftermarket stereos and removable tour packs. The aftermarket stereo would be an improvement for the standard but is a down grade money wise for the Ultra and Limited’s with the loss of the intercom and CB. Add a quick detach tour pack to the STD is also no big deal.

When I was shopping for my first Harley in 2009 (The last year of the STD) I first wanted a heritage but it was out of my price range and the salesman got me to look at the Road King and the Standard. The Road King had the black motor and cruise control and the Standard has the silver motor and no cruise. Both bikes were the same price. I picked the Road King for the motor color and cruise.

In retrospect knowing what I know now and taking into account everything I have done to the King the Standard probably would have been the better bike for me to build on.

If that actually happens, it may be on it's way out. But who knows.
Doubt that but who knows, no lowers on the Vrod. They would actually take space away from the radiator.

The lowers come off in about 5 minutes and are fantastic in the cold weather

My last Harley was a 1986 FLTC that I changed into a FLHS with a tour box. I had that bike for 18 years. I miss that old bike.

The 2010 Ultra I own now is perfect for me. I only have 3,100 miles on it since October. I’m retiring in January and plan on wearing out the Ultra.
