What would be your best guess on the cost of having the SE Compensator and a stronger spring installed?
225 in parts, 4 hours of labor (bill rate X hrs)

If the bike is still in warranty I would take it to another dealer who would hopefully know of the problem and say the comp is bad. Then ask them to install the SE comp and you pay the difference in price of the comps ($100-$150, depending on the dealer). That's what I did on mine.

Unfortunately, the warranty is finished. I may try the spring first on my next oil change, then see what that brings.

When you say 4 hours labor, is that because the comp change is a big job? Or is it the clutch spring that's the bigger job?

My RK does that frequently, especially when I am practicing slow-speed cone patterns. All I do is give it a little more RPM and it goes away. I think it's normal for that condition, and I don't worry about it. YMMV.

45 minutes to change the spring. 4 hours or so to change the compensator. The spring change is an easy task.

Believe me now & hear me sooner:

IF you put the SE clutch spring on, you'll wish you went to the "easy-pull" clutch ramps as well, otherwise the clutch lever will pull harder than it did.....BUT....IF you have the dealer do it, you have to add a bit more to the cost.....cuz the exhause hasta be removed, & a right tranny cover gasket installed, plus new exhaust gaskets......
It cost me LOW $$$, as I did ALL the hot damn work myself......but if yer not mechanically inclined, or don't have the place/tools/shop manual or ambition to do it, then shell out the BIG BUCKS!!

I'll be glad I did because of the hard pull? What about this 98A spring that people are saying is right in between the stock and the SE? My father has a SE spring in his 09 Road King, and I can manage the pull, but not sure which SE spring it is. His is defintely a harder pul, but after a few hours of riding his bike, I didn't feel strain in my hands.

If the ramps are that much more $$$, maybe I can hit the gym to strengthen up instead !

Cool

harley sells a 10% over spring, that is easier to pull than the SE and it does work. I've got it on mine. 07 ultra
