Sometimes, not all the time, on my '08 Ultra, I will let out on the clutch and get a "clicking" type noise? Only at starting speeds in 1st gear. Hard to explain, but maybe some of you guys have experienced this.
I can pull back in on the clutch and re-engage and it usually quits. Also always quits when she gets rolling.
My 09 makes a similar noise. I noticed it in neutral. When I pull in the clutch, the noise quits. Let out the clutch (in neutral) and a slight knocking noise appears. Mine sounds like it is coming from the right side right under the clutch inspection cover.

I think it's a Harley thing. My sound appears when I let off the clutch too slow (I think). Sort of like it's engaging, but clicks as it's engaging. Not sure if I'm making sense. I don't hear it in neutral.
My 08 did the same thing. Several guys here on the forum said it was likely to be a loose compensator nut. When I took the bike in for a filter shell recall I asked the service manager to check it out. When I picked it up he said "yep, compensator nut was not to spec". They retorqued it under warranty and no more noise.
duracell I got the same problem (08 flhtp)sounds like s":t if theres not enough power behind the take off
I think I will go to the dealer and inquire about this noise. Thank you good Man........
