Default Possible clutch problem?

I've been trying to figure out a squealing noise I'm hearing when downshifting. I'm starting to think either there is a bearing that is going out in the clutch pack itself or possibly something else like a throw out bearing.

Problem is, I don't know how to begin troubleshooting this. What are the signs of a bearing going out in a clutch pack besides a possible squealing noise? What other "symptoms" should I be looking for?

Thanks guys.

Is that the only time you hear it? If so is it every gear? Do you hear it when the clutch is engaged or disengaged? If at a idle do you hear it when you pull in the lever or engage the clutch?

The only time I really hear the squealing noise is when I down shift and let out the clutch. As the bike rises in RPMs, it makes this odd noise. When the bike is sitting in, let's say first gear with the clutch lever pulled in, I don't hear it. Even if I rev the bike with the bike in gear with clutch lever pulled in, I don't hear it. If I'm riding and I use brakes with clutch lever pulled in and don't downshift, I don't hear it. Only time I hear this strange noise is when I down shift and the RPMs rise when shifting into lower gears.

Best I can describe it.

I'm almost thinking primary chain adjuster when you gear down and use the engine to slow the bike down the primary chain tension is on the opposite side and could be rubbing on adjuster or part of the primary. How many miles on the bike

I can narrow it down. The clutch pack does not have a bearing.

There is one main bearing in the clutch assembly when my inner primary bearing went I ate up the race and all the shavings went into the clutch main bearing so I replaced them all the inner primary bearing isn't bad but I think the clutch main bearing was just under a hundred my cost

No. Only when I'm downshifting through the gears and the RPMs rise. BTW - To answer your other question about miles... there's about 42,000 on it.

That's a possibility too. I may have to check the chain tension again. Miles - about 42,000

Ya, that's a possibility too. I just had the bike at an indy shop and they had to pull the final drive wheel to pull the IPB race because it had walked in too far and they couldn't get the puller behind it. I'm almost certain they had the final drive belt off. Not sure if they pulled the rear wheel? It's possible when it was reassembled that they didn't tighten the final drive belt up. I'm going to check it tonight.
