Default Long Ride Shields.....Stealth or Ultra

I am ready to buy a new shield for my Ultra and I am interested in a blend between good looks and good wind protection. This will be a shield for solo riding, although if I find it gives good protection for my wife, I may use it for 2-up as well. I have 2 questions......

1. For those of you who have experience with both the Ultra and the Stealth. I am having a difficult time with the shape of the Stealth. It looks real unorthodox to me. Like it was formed on an anvil with a hammer. I know there are probably good reasons for all the contour but I just think it looks "spacey" for lack of a better term. So is the shape something you get used to and does it offer better protection against buffeting than the Ultra.

2. How is the length measured? From the top to bottom of the shield, from the hole pattern or from how it sits on the bike from the fairing up? I have a shorty on there now which is about 4" up from the fairing or 5" up from the holes or probably 6" overall top to bottom. I know I need a shield about 3" taller, based on what I measured using the height to nose method.

Can't answer your question directly, but I did call James at LRS and sent him a photo of myself sitting on the Ultra with the stock shield. I'm 6'6" tall and the stock 12" shield was even with my eyes, (I slouch).
He recommended the Ultra Flat top in a 10". It works good, and I see over the top of the shield now and it's definitely has less buffeting that the stock. He did say the UFT would give me more wind blockage than the Stealth.
